As they say lunar new year is coming, everything literally most of the things have to be brand new, so to kick start the new lunar year I got myself a new hair cut.

That’s me! Shaved and trimmed!
If you’re wondering what animal this is, it’s called alpaca – a domesticated species of South American camelid.

For the longest time in this year I have totally neglected my good old camera.
It started with my rechargeable AA battery. For some reason, the so-called world’s longest lasting rechargeable battery could not live up to its reputation. I remember having to recharge the batteries for an immeasurably 7-8 hours just to use it for an hour plus of shooting. The most I could get from each shoot is around 50-80 shots.
Being really pissed, I gave up shooting. With the handy iPhone at hand, my semi-pro Canon camera fast become a thing of a distant reach. Together with Instagram – a favourite snap, apply filter and share instantaneously application – the iPhone point and shoot became my favourite pastime.
It wasn’t until last month when my friend told me of this fast gaining popular rechargeable batteries from Sanyo, called Eneloop. Being a cautious consumer, not to fall into the commercial trap again, I researched on the brand. To my surprise, most of the comments and reviews are good!
So I got myself a charger set (charger + 4 AA batteries) and another pack of extra juice. The charger set cost me RM139 while the battery packet RM69.

I am ready to shoot again! I can use it out of the packet. I can store it for a long time, say three years and it still retain 75% of the capacity. I can charge it for up to 1500 times (imagine the savings!). Most importantly, the charging time takes only 220mins (4 batteries), 110mins (2 batteries) and 75mins (1 battery). Just perfect for my Down Under trip end of this year.
Here’s the specification of the Eneloop battery.

Click Eneloop’s Website for more information.
I will let you know whether I give this a YAY or a NAY after I try it out on my trekking trip this coming Monday to Gunung Datuk.

This illustration in a Mercedes Benz ad (of all things) really nailed the right-brain/ left-brain functions in this visually exciting illustration! The ad copy reads:
(Left:) “I am the left brain. I am a scientist. A mathematician. I love the familiar. I categorize. I am accurate. Linear. Analytical. Strategic. I am practical. Always in control. A master of words and language. Realistic. I calculate equations and play with numbers. I am order. I am logic. I know exactly who I am.”
(Right:) “I am the right brain. I am creativity. A free spirit. I am passion. Yearning. Sensuality. I am the sound of roaring laughter. I am taste. The feeling of sand beneath bare feet. I am movement. Vivid colors. I am the urge to paint on an empty canvas. I am boundless imagination. Art. Poetry. I sense. I feel. I am everything I wanted to be.”
