If you have been following me on twitter, I have made it known that out of spontaneity I drove all the way up to this hilly town famously known as Fraser’s Hill all alone. Come to think of it, some of you may think I am such lone ranger, but in actual I just wanted a day out to clear my already clogged brain.
Anyway, here’s the long awaited entry on Fraser’s Hill and some bit of my well being.
It has never appeared to me that I will venture the hills of Malaysia alone. Being my first trip alone, I must say Fraser’s Hill has the charm.
Why I love Fraser’s Hill? The name speaks it all.
In my most jakun mind, Fraser’s Hill appealed to me as a laid back English town and the picturesque of old cottages made me wanted to go there ever since I heard of its name. Set in the hilly backdrop, this place was first discovered by pioneer Louis James Fraser in the 1880s.
A century has passed, this place seems to still retain its original beauty, something you don’t get to see elsewhere in Malaysia, just as the picture of the clock tower that withstood the time.
You’ll be surprised when I tell you that Fraser’s Hill can be conquered in one day. This small town is served by single carriageway which is suitable for a one way traffic. Whenever two cars collide in the opposite direction, one will have to be Mr. Polite. Here’s a map of this hill placed in the hands of Fraser’s Hill Development Corporation.
Oh, the cottages! Nicknamed the Little England, there are uncountable cottages in this small town, some of them open to public while some are private properties. I could not believe my eyes that I am in Malaysia, my feet though stepping in the Malaysian soil but my imagination was running wild – at least I thought I was in UK!
More bungalows!
Not far away down the hill, the stream of water forms a cascading waterfall in Jeriang. Tried dipping my fingers in it, freezing cold it was. Decided not to take bath in the public pool because I am still not confident with my bod (especially the protruding tummy).
IMPATIENS! That’s rather odd for a flower to be named this way.
Again, why do I so freaking love Fraser’s Hill? Fraser’s Hill is not only blessed with fair weather, beautiful cottages, lush greenery, it is a replica of England!
For those of you who are interested, you can take either the Kuala Kubu Baru (Selangor) or the Bentong (Pahang) route. I suggest the former as the road is so much better and there are more cars plying that road compared to the almost empty stretch of Bentong route. *I still feel the creepiness of driving passed the Bentong route*
Once you reached the Gap (a transit to Fraser’s Hill), the guards will allow you drive up to Fraser’s Hill during odd hours (7am, 9am, etc) while even hours (8am, 10am, etc) are reserved for downhill vehicles.
It would be a disaster to have an empty tank. Do promise yourself a trip worth remembered by avoiding finding petrol station in Fraser’s Hill, there is none, I repeat NONE.

Nice. Made me wanna visit it :)
Marvin, it's more than nice, really! There's another place I wanted to go badly – Bukit Tinggi where Selesa homes is located. Probably one day I'll drive up there and take a good look at the place.
We often spent weekends in Fraser’s Hill when I was a kid and lived in KL. My brother and I used to swim to a ledge behind the waterfall and sit there watching all the tourists on the other side. Most of whom were horrified to see us splashing about in the water! Emma
Hi Emma, I’m glad that you like Fraser’s Hill. The thought of dipping in the waterfall just sent a chilling sensation to my spine.
